Malaysians Rate Boost as Second Most Rewarding eWallet

As an eWallet user in an eWallet-packed environment, what’s the most important factor for you when choosing which eWallet to use?

For the majority, it’s probably the cashback, promotions and rewards.

Without the attractive reward points and attractive discounts, most of us would rather stick to what we know best - cash and cards.

Of course, we’re not just speculating here. In our Best eWallet for 2020 Survey, 54% of respondents chose cashback and promotions as their main reason for using eWallets.

In a previous article, we shared an overview of the results from our Best eWallet for 2020 Survey, where Touch n’ Go eWallet triumphed on top as the firm favourite for Malaysians overall.

However, Boost didn’t fall too far behind - nabbing the title of second most rewarding eWallet!

Boost holds 2nd place for Most Rewarding eWallet.

Out of the 245 respondents surveyed, 48% chose TNG eWallet as the most rewarding eWallet, while Boost came in second at 25%.

Other eWallets surveyed include GrabPay (13%), ShopeePay (4%), MAE/Maybank QRPay (2%), Lazada Wallet (2%) and RazerPay (1%).

Most rewarding eWallet by gender.

Interestingly, Boost is the only eWallet where preferences by gender can be seen. Men tend to find Boost most rewarding, and consequently use it more often too.

While other eWallets tend to have more or less equal ratios of men and women who find it most rewarding, 10% more men find Boost to be more rewarding compared to women

Most rewarding eWallet by age group.

When broken down by age groups (18 - 34), (35 - 54), (55+), Boost proved to be a firm favourite for the middle-aged group (35 - 54)

On the contrary, younger users between the ages of 18 - 34 find GrabPay and ShopeePay most rewarding.

As for older users above the ages of 55? They stayed true to their overall loyalty to TNG eWallet, rating TNG eWallet as the eWallet they find most rewarding.

Most rewarding eWallet by gross income level.

In the survey, respondents were also broken down according to their gross income level per annum.

Boost is seen as most rewarding for those in the RM35 - RM100K age group.

In comparison, GrabPay saw a landslide number of votes for the most rewarding eWallet from those in the RM250+K group.

What rewards does Boost eWallet have?

We know that TNG eWallet currently doesn’t employ a reward point system, instead relying mainly on merchant promotions.

As for Boost, it certainly comes to no surprise that so many Malaysians love it for its rewards. Most of us are probably already familiar with some of its rewards such as Boost Points and Shake Rewards.
